STUDENT SUPPORT PROGARMME

 

Queen Elizabeth College is a student-centered school.
We have a strong and supportive guidance system for all students
.
We are a caring school where students come first. Because of this approach, we provide a wide range of services and programmes to suit individual needs.

Vertical Groups - Enable students to build relationships across year levels

Group Teachers

-

Monitor the progress of individual students throughout their time at the College.

School Council

-

Meets at least once a month and is chaired by the Deputy Head Prefects. This is an opportunity for leadership and the promotion of student initiative.

Whanau Whanui

-

Supports Maori students and their whanau. They meet at least once a term.

Deans at each year level

Are responsible for the guidance, discipline and support of students.

Guidance Counselor

Is available to all students.

Special Needs Dean

-

Works with students with specific learning or behavioural needs who require extra resources.

Dean of NESB Students

-

Is responsible for pastoral care of international students and NESB students.

Careers Advisor

-

Provides information and advice on vocational matters and careers.

Peer Support

-

Is a programme where senior students work with Year 9 students to support them in settling into secondary school life.

Health Clinic

-

Is available to all students and staffed by a Public Health Nurse.

Resource Teacher of Learning & Behaviour

Works with students (and their parents) in need of specific programmes to overcome barriers to learning and to improve behaviour.

Individual/Group Tuition

-

Is available at set times and on request

Academic Mentoring

-

Is a programme whereby staff meet regularly with students to discuss needs in subject areas, timelines for work completion, strategies on how to study and prioritize. The programme will also identify if extra learning challenges need to be put in place.
