| Guitar I
Learn to play the guitar in this introduction aimed at the complete novice. You'll learn to play chords, read notes and tabs and how to practise effectively. You will need your own acoustic guitar. If you have always fancied the idea of playing the guitar but haven't got around to it, now's your chance. The book, “The Progressive Guitar Method - Book 1” by Gary Turner & Brenton White is required (approx. $40), as is an electronic tuner (approx. $30). These are available from either Beggs, Music Planet or the Rock Shop. The course follows the book and allows you to practise at home playing along with a CD or viewing the DVD.
Some additional material will also be provided to supplement the exercises in the book. To gain the most from the course you will need to practice regularly between sessions. Course Fee: $ 55

Guitar II
You must have completed Guitar I first, as this course builds on the skills and techniques learnt previously and you will need to have completed Book 1 in the series (see below). You'll learn more chords together with some more interesting and challenging songs. You will need your own acoustic guitar.

Mainly Singing
The Mainly Singing course caters for all who "love to sing". Each course has a different repertoire of songs, with the level of complexity tailored to the abilities of the students. An optional "theory half hour" is available for the first 30 minutes. Tutoring is offered from Primer level up to Grade 4. Each student will progress at his/her own pace. The tutor will advise newcomers if a workbook is required. These are available at a cost of $18.00. The remaining 1 hr 30 mins is spent on the chosen songs which you will present "in concert" in the community on the Sunday afternoon following the last class. Your course fee covers a range of fact sheets to support tutoring in voice, music knowledge and literacy. Course Fee: $ 60
